Working Principle

The Kaishan K10 DTH hammer operates on the principle of down-the-hole percussion. Compressed air is supplied through the drill pipe to the hammer, which is located directly above the drill bit. Inside the hammer, a piston reciprocates rapidly, striking the bit shank with high impact energy. The bit then crushes the rock at the bottom of the hole. After each impact, the bit rotates slightly, and the air flows through the bit's flushing holes to remove cuttings from the hole. The hammer's valving system controls the movement of the piston, ensuring efficient energy transfer and minimal air loss. This mechanism allows the K10 to drill hard rock efficiently, as the impact energy is applied directly to the bit without loss through the drill string. The result is faster penetration, reduced bit wear, and lower fuel consumption compared to other drilling methods.
