Working Principle

The Kaishan K40 DTH Hammer operates on the principle of down-the-hole percussion. Compressed air is supplied through the drill pipe to the hammer, which is located directly above the drill bit. Inside the hammer, a piston reciprocates rapidly, striking the bit with high-impact energy. The air then flows through the bit's flushing holes to remove cuttings from the hole bottom and cool the bit. The hammer's valve system controls the movement of the piston, ensuring efficient energy transfer and minimal air loss. Because the hammer is in the hole, the impact energy is applied directly to the bit without loss through the drill string, resulting in faster penetration and straighter holes. The K40's design optimizes the timing of the piston stroke and air exhaust, achieving a balance between impact power and air consumption.
