Working Principle

In DTH drilling, the hammer is located at the bottom of the drill string, directly impacting the bit. The SHANK-ADAPTERS serves as the mechanical link between the DTH hammer and the drill rod. It transmits both rotational torque from the drill rig and impact energy from the hammer to the bit, while also allowing flushing air to pass through to clear cuttings. The adapter's shank end fits into the hammer's chuck, and its threaded end connects to the drill rod. When the rig rotates and feeds the string, the adapter ensures that the hammer and rod move as a single unit. The design must withstand high torsional and impact loads, as well as abrasive wear from rock cuttings. Proper heat treatment and precise machining are critical to prevent premature failure.
