Working Principle
DTH (Down-The-Hole) drill bits operate by receiving impact energy from a down-the-hole hammer, which is driven by compressed air. The hammer's piston strikes the bit's shank, transmitting high-frequency impact forces to the tungsten carbide buttons. As the bit rotates, the buttons crush and cut the rock, creating a hole. The THREAD-OPENER-BITS are specifically designed with a tapered or stepped profile to enlarge pilot holes and clean threads for casing advancement. The flushing air, also from the hammer, travels through the bit's flushing holes to remove cuttings and cool the bit. The combination of impact, rotation, and flushing ensures efficient rock breakage and hole cleaning. The thread opening feature allows the bit to ream the hole to the required diameter while preparing the thread profile, enabling smooth casing installation. This design reduces the need for separate reaming tools, saving time and cost.
