Working Principle

The Kaishan R32 DTH drill bit operates on the principle of down-the-hole percussion. Compressed air is delivered through the drill string to the DTH hammer, which directly drives the bit's piston. The piston strikes the bit shank, transferring impact energy to the tungsten carbide buttons on the bit face. These buttons crush and fracture the rock under high-frequency impacts. Simultaneously, the bit rotates slowly, allowing the buttons to index to new positions. The exhaust air from the hammer travels through the flushing holes in the bit, cooling the bit and lifting rock cuttings to the surface. This combination of impact, rotation, and flushing enables efficient drilling in hard rock. The R32 thread ensures a secure connection between the bit and hammer, withstanding the rigorous demands of continuous operation.
