Working Principle

The Kaishan K40C DTH hammer operates on the principle of converting compressed air energy into mechanical impact. Compressed air is fed through the drill pipe into the hammer's inlet. Inside, a reciprocating piston is driven by air pressure alternately applied to its top and bottom surfaces. The piston strikes the drill bit's shank at high frequency, typically 800 to 1,500 blows per minute, generating powerful stress waves that fracture rock. After impact, the air exhausts through the bit's flushing holes, clearing cuttings from the hole bottom and cooling the bit. The hammer's valving system controls air distribution, ensuring smooth piston movement and optimal energy transfer. This design allows the K40C to drill efficiently in hard rock with minimal energy loss. The hammer's simple yet robust mechanism ensures reliable operation and long service life, making it a preferred tool for DTH drilling professionals.
